Our Journey in Space Exhibition

I participated in Science Center Heureka’s Our Journey in Space exhibition’s design and production. The exhibition has been open for visitors from 10.2.2024 until 11.1.2026 and it presents current space-related activities as well as plans which are potentially occurring in the near future.

My most prominent work included the interactive exhibition object which offered insight into what it might be like to sustain yourself in a space station. With the leading exhibition producer, an industrial designer and the senior graphic designer, we designed three dispensers for touch screens: a coffee machine, a food vending machine and a waste recycling station. The senior graphic designer provided the visual guidelines and my task was to ideate and create the visual layout, graphics and instructions for animation. In this project I had the opportunity to learn about digital interfaces and prototypes for exhibitions and about communicating interactive functions along with animation instructions to the programming company.

I also managed the project and production of the exhibition’s signage, coordinating with the team to confirm sign quantities, content, and dimensions. Given the space station theme, most exhibition objects had buttons which required multilingual signs. I worked with a graphic designer to select materials at the printing house and created low-fidelity prototypes for every odd-shaped interface. I also handled the layout design and technical finishing for printing. For installation, I collaborated with the senior graphic designer to engineer jig tools and laser-cut them in-house, and used them to install the signs.
